This is the worst written book I have read this year. It uses a horrible tabloid tone of sneering at its subjects, in particular Janet Street Porter, whose words it "quotes" in italicised mock-Cockney spellings, like a sarcastic posh 6th former. The lack of sources and spurious assertions constantly makes me expect the words [citation needed] to pop up. It seems very biased from one point of view on the lead characters, showing few positive takes on David Montgomery or Janet PP, as if the whole thing's been dictated by their opponents.

And factual innaccuracies abound, all about minor things but things that could be checked. Like for example the suggestion that "you've got the brains, I've got the brawn, let's make lots of money" comes from the Pet Shop Boys song "Shopping". I know, a tiny detail, but typical of the tiny details that make this book a frustrating read. I'm persevering because of my interest in the subject, but I would never be able to rely on any "facts" I find in it.
