Two million dollars? What a fortune to inherit! Courtney Madison has battled poverty her entire twenty-five years but is determined to make a safe and happy home for her teenaged brother after the death of their mom. Her inheritance in West Texas looks like the answer to her prayers. Once she arrives in Sweet Springs, Texas and moves in across the road from a handsome rancher, she soon learns her problems are just beginning.
Derek Corrigan, who co-owns some of Ms. Madison’s properties, suspects the worst of his new neighbor and vows to fight his growing attraction. He knows what women do to him--they always leave and take away chunks of his heart. He's been there, done that, had the vaccination long ago and is cured. Or is he?
Through a crazy twist of fate, Caroline Clemmons was not born on a Texas ranch. To make up for this tragic error, she writes about handsome cowboys, feisty ranch women, and scheming villains in a small office her family calls her pink cave. She and her Hero live in North Central Texas cowboy country where they ride herd on their rescued cats and dogs. The books she creates there have made her an Amazon bestselling author and won several awards. Find her on her blog, website, Facebook, Twitter, Goodreads, Google+, and Pinterest. I loved this story about a woman called Courtney who’d experienced something we all dream about - a chance at a new life through an inheritance from a wealthy man who believed in her. She won a house, property and money, enough so that she could take her troubled younger brother away from the bad group he’d become mixed up in. Unfortunately, when she arrived in her new place, the other inheritor, Derek, who’d believed everything would be his, wasn’t happy about this arrangement at all. Throughout the story Courtney had to prove her innocence in bogus charges brought against her in her past and win the respect from everyone today. The love story was sweet and constant as these two found each other, fighting through misunderstandings and lost opportunities. I would recommend this story as a lovely way to pass an afternoon.
Caroline Clemmons, I loved this book. This was the first of your books I read and it won't be the last . The story was great. A poor girl, Courtney and her brother, befriend an elderly gentleman, while her mom is terminally ill in the hospital. Sam has a big heart and is rich and he puts Courtney in his will and leaves her money and properties worth 2 million dollars. His adopted son, Derek, thinks she is a good digger and he is out to prove it. Somewhere along the way, they start to be friends and come to have feelings for each other. Of course, its a bumpy road along the way with a lot of interference from other. Read this one if you like romance and cowboy westerns this is a great book
A slow building but emotional read about a down-on-her-luck young woman and her brother who get the chance of a lifetime - a new start with lots of money and a new home. Small town Sweet Texas isn't as welcoming as she'd hoped, but it seems to have a lot of good-looking and eligible bachelors - three to be exact, and all interested in courting Courtney for different reasons. Courtney only has eyes for Derek - a divorced father of two young children - the one person who thinks she's out to scam the community. She's determined to prove she deserves his love, unfortunately a deceitful employee and a vendictive woman stand in her way. I enjoyed this book by Caroline Clemmons.
Caroline Clemmons has written a tale of two people both searching for one thing: love. Right off the bat you can tell the sexual attraction is there but it is friendship and love they both need. To read this review in its entirety, please visit http://www.blackravensreviews.com/?p=...
Caroline Clemmons has kept me up late reading late into the night many, many times--and she did it again with this book! Wonderful characters, a great read.
I have enjoyed Caroline Clemmons books, but this was the first one that wasn't set in the past. I really enjoyed the character development. The storyline might be deja vu; but the writing is so superb that it doesn't matter. I enjoyed it!! An easy afternoon read. Plan on three hour nonstos because you won't want to put the book down.
My review was originally on romancing-the-book.com and is shown below
This was a wonderful contemporary romance that captured my attention from the first page to the last. I stayed up way, way past my bedtime in order to finish this book - I just couldn't put it down. There was laughter, tears, angst, arguments, romance and a great storyline. Courtney and Derek butted heads from the beginning and I couldn't wait to see what they were up to next. Courtney handled her life the best she could when either poor or rich but was genuinely a nice person. You couldn't help but hope that her life turned out well through all the ups and downs. It was remarkable that she had such a good heart given her life and it was a pleasure to see her need to honor and remember Sam and Maggie due to her good fortune. It was also nice to see how Courtney and her brother related to each other - they had a sweet relationship. My only complaint is how the book ended. There was a happily ever after but it would have been nice if the book could have just been a little longer to see how they all fit into their new life. I have not ready any other books by Clemmons before but you can be sure I will add her to my to be read pile. I understand that there is also going to be another book in this series. Can't wait to read it - I hope it's as good as Home Sweet Texas Home was.
Favorite Quote: He ran his hands up and down her arms. "You know there's a Midwinter Madness dinner dance at the country club on Friday. I hope you'll let me take you."
"Friday?" Had she heard correctly? Her heart beat quicker. Surely not. She leaned back to see his eyes, her hands at his waist. "Wait, let me clarify this. Are you asking me out? As in a date?"

What does one do when you don't trust someone, but yet can't seem to fight the growing attraction for them? Derek is in that situation with Courtney, a woman that is a stranger to him. But now he has to face her because she's inherited a man's fortune. That man was like a father to Derek, and he suspects that Courtney is up to no good, hence the reason she inherited what she did.
But the more time he spends with her, the more he realizes how wrong he is. And his two kids take to Courtney and her teenaged brother.
Caroline Clemmons has done it again. The author has lured me in with another sweet and tender romance that I had a hard time putting down. The characters are well crafted and memorable, the plot has twists and turns and the pacing was great. Home, Sweet Texas Home is a book that anyone with a love of sweet contemporary romances won't want to miss.
This book needs a proof reader, I was a little surprised by all the 5 star reviews, the premise has lots of promise. It just fell a bit flat. The ending felt like that's where the story should begin. And what's with the 15 year old boy who cries all the time. Not that crying is bad ,it just seemed like ,not something he would do, he grew up poor in a very tough neighborhood, seems like crying would not be something he would be prone to. And the bad guy is never resolved ,at least to me. Maybe there is another book that explains it. I liked the characters. Especially Courtney, if your expecting a story with some heat you will not find it here, this is a sweet innocent romance.
