Yosemite National Park has at its heart the magnificent and intimate Yosemite Valley--where huge granite domes billow upward and tall waterfalls seem to spring from the sky. In the vast parkland, soaring white capped peaks and wilderness forests and meadowlands speak of the primeval. Yosemite is a panorama of natural beauty that "cleanses and warms like fire" yet calms and soothes like balm. Yosemite National Park, in central California, traces its origins to 1864. Formally established in 1890 and 1906, it preserves Yosemite Valley, giant sequoias, forests, and High Sierra wilderness.
“There is a story told in Yosemite that succinctly summarizes the appeal of the park and the infinite diversity of its wonders: A lady visitor, who wanted to spend her time in Yosemite to the best advantage, asked a park ranger, ‘What would you do if you had only one day to spend in Yosemite?’ ‘Madam,’ the ranger replied, ‘I’d weep.’” Thus ends this wonderful descriptive book about Yosemite, where I spent a few glorious days with my mother in the end of March of 2012. I’d like to go back and experience more of this spectacular national park, and truly hope I will one day.
