A nice introduction in the world of peppers. The varieties, how to grow them and recipes.

Here is an excellent primer on chile peppers, covering "nearly" everything one would expect for a book of this type.
Full of interesting snippets about how chile peppers have evolved, been transported, traded throughout history and around the world, it includes just the right amount of information without getting lost in the details. There is abundant and useful instructions explaining how to germinate, plant, grow, harvest and preserve chile peppers. Then through the 150 recipes, ranging from basic spice rubs and salsa's to entree's and beverages the reader has a road map on how incorporate them into an everyday diet.
Unfortunately, the author has not included any homemade hot sauce recipes with basic bottling techniques or anything on the fermentation process used in producing the unique flavor found in popular sauces like Tabasco,Texas Pete,Crystal, etc. But supplemental information can be found at sites like TheHotPepper.com and other links and websites listed in the appendix.
This is a great book, obviously well researched and a valuable resource for any aspiring "Chile Head".
The recipes alone are worth the price of the book. My current copy in on loan from our public library, but I will be buying a personal copy for my Kindle soon after its return.

This was a loaner from the library and I was truly upset that I had to turn it in before I got a chance to try out any of the recipes. This is a book I will have to add to our home library for sure. Lots of great info on the various peppers and how to make a variety of things with them. Includes 150 very easy to follow along with recipes that I was real excited about trying out. The interesting thing is that the recipes come from all over , from the middle east to the far east and points between. Also has some great beverage ideas. So for those that like it hot grab a copy of this book and have fun!
