The Thessalonian epistles are probably best known for what they reveal about the last days. But there is much more to these letters than just end times prophecy. At their core, they underscore the marks of a healthy chruch, addressing such practical matters as moral purity, disciplined living, church relationships, prayer, and church discipline. Join John MacArthur as he explains each verse in a way that is both doctrinally precise and intensely practical.
John F. MacArthur, Jr. was a United States Calvinistic evangelical writer and minister, noted for his radio program entitled Grace to You and as the editor of the Gold Medallion Book Award-winning MacArthur Study Bible. MacArthur was a fifth-generation pastor, a popular author and conference speaker, and served as pastor-teacher of Grace Community Church in Sun Valley, California beginning in 1969, as well as President of The Master’s College (and the related Master’s Seminary) in Santa Clarita, California.
I am really glad that I picked up this commentary in my study of 1-2 Thessalonians. I needed a dispensational perspective on the eschatological sections, and MacArthur filled that void very nicely (though I also complimented him with other dispensational resources). Also, MacArthur is very pastoral (I wonder why?), which always sparked good thoughts for my Sunday school lessons. Finally, MacArthur's extensive topical cross-referencing is another unique benefit that he brings to the table.
J Mac is a great author and theologian. I do not believe in all the things he writes about but he does give understanding for his belief. It helps me understand the different views others have.
Great commentary. MacArthur leaves no stone unturned when breaking down the Bible. Very easy to understand and great Biblical truths especially as related to end time events.
