Two For Tuesday

Dr. Marcus Jones is world-famous for inventing a procedure to make cardiac surgery quicker and safer. He's achieved much in the ten years since he graduated from medical school, including accumulating more wealth than he'd ever dreamed of, growing up in the projects in Chicago. The one area in his life that he's not been successful at is his personal life. His lawyer-wife is divorcing him--but then he was never head-over-heels in love with her. He's only felt that way about one woman--the one he dated back in college--the one who got away. But he didn't get to be rich and famous by not pursuing his dreams. And she's never been good at saying No. When he finds her name on the internet he contacts her, determined to see if he can rekindle what they once had together, back when he could only spare one night a week away from his studies, and his world revolved around Tuesdays.

I have always had stories in my head. Characters intrude into my thoughts and insist on showing me scenes from their lives. I discovered that when I ignore them, they start to yell louder; if I write their stories and they can live in readers' heads as well, they usually leave me alone. Only to be replaced by a new group of story-tellers. My head is usually a very crowded place, but I like it that way.

When a publisher closed, I got the rights back to some of my books. I put them up on Smashwords, with new IBC #s, and a newly revised version, with new covers:
March 2020--For the Love of His Life-MNRomance#1
April 2020--Only One Man Will Do--MN Romance#2
Her Last Resort--MN Romance#3
Secret Lover--Female Secret Agents #1
Undercover Lovers--Fem. Sec. Agents#2
May 2020--Prophecy of the Mayan Undead--contains
both vampire books as 1 long saga.
June 2020--No More Secrets--MN Romance #4

Medical student Marcus Jones knows he’s lucky to have a scholarship. It’s his one chance to escape from his impoverished life in the Chicago projects, and he’s grimly determined to succeed in his quest to become a doctor. Exhausted with studying, skinny from the terrible dorm food, lonely and horny, he can barely manage an hour out at the local pub and a single beer once a week.

One night at the bar, he performs the Heimlich maneuver on a cute coed who’s had one too many. He figures he’s just doing his duty as a medical professional, but Melanie McKee, the young lady in question, sees things differently. She wants to thank Marcus for his help, and given how attractive he is, she can’t think of a better way than inviting him to join her for pizza and sex.

Their physical chemistry astonishes them both, but they’re compatible in other ways, too. Pretty soon they’re seeing each other regularly on Tuesday nights. Melanie’s a free spirit, though. She doesn’t want an exclusive relationship and unlike Marcus is definitely is not interested in marriage. As they complete their studies, their divergent views and goals drive them apart.

Ten years later, with Marcus’ ill-considered marriage to a society gold-digger about to be dissolved, he tries to reconnect with Melanie. They’ve both matured; it turns out that the passion that united them burns stronger than ever. Still, their different preferences and life choices make it hard for them to find common ground.

Fiona McGier does a wonderful job conveying the gorgeous intensity of requited love. When you’ve found your soul mate, sex becomes a hundred times hotter and more satisfying. Marcus and Melanie can’t keep their hands off each other – and their attraction is completely convincing. There’s no kink in this book (unless you consider that phone sex, driven by necessary separation, qualifies for that label), but the erotic scenes in this book are nevertheless both varied and powerfully arousing.

The characters are appealing, particularly Melanie, who has a distinctive voice and an unusual but believable attitude toward casual sex. When Marcus first meets her, she bowls him over with her frank enjoyment of carnal activities. In some ways she’s more mature than he – she’s certainly more experienced – and she teaches him quite a lot about relaxing and letting go. When they meet again, Marcus is more her match. It’s great fun to see him trying to tame her, and watching the sparks fly.

The plot in Two for Tuesday is quite simple and like most romance, the outcome is never in doubt. Still, you’ll enjoy the path to Melanie’s and Marcus’ happy ending. There are some great scenes near the conclusion of the book, in particular Melanie’s encounter with her beloved’s ex in the ladies’ room, and a fairy tale finale.

She found the correct elevator and got up to the right floor in enough time to have about fifteen minutes to go until three p.m. Just enough time to use the bathroom and to check to be sure I look all right. Five minutes later she was powdering her nose when she realized that a woman had entered the bathroom and was just standing there, staring at her.

“Excuse me, do I know you?” She turned to face the other woman.

“No. But I know who you are. I’ve seen your picture. You don’t look as good in person.”

“Hmm, let’s see—beautiful Black woman, expensive taste in clothes, perfectly groomed—you must be Shandra.”

“Yes. And you’re the slut who stole my man.”

Melanie sighed. “First of all, I didn’t steal Marcus. You had already thrown him out before he got in touch with me again. I hadn’t seen him in ten years.”

“But I notice that you don’t deny that you’re a whore. And not even a very good one, since you never got paid for it.”

Melanie smiled in spite of herself. “Obviously you’re expecting me to be hurt by your calling me names. But I’m okay with the kind of woman I was then, just like I’m okay with who I am now. But what’s probably bothering you more is that Marcus is okay with the way I was then and the way I am now. I don’t really care what your opinion is.”

“But you did take my man away from me. He might still be my husband if you hadn’t committed adultery with him. He might have tried to work things out with me. But you made it too easy for my man to leave.”

Taking a deep breath, Melanie shook her head. “No, not really. What you’re forgetting is that Marcus was never really your man to begin with, no matter how you tried to lay claim to him. Marcus has been my man for over twelve years. He’s just come back to me after a really long break.”

I think this snippet will give you a sense of who Melanie is – and why I enjoyed her story so much.

Two for Tuesday will leave you feeling satisfied – maybe even a bit smug – as the each of the characters gets what he or she richly deserves.

An erotic ride....

Two for Tuesday is an erotic, very sensual story. Not only does it draw you into a heady sexual relationship but it highlights the differences between different social backgrounds.....Mel being a more country girl and Marcus being from the city.
Colour is only really referred to once or so, the cheeky stereotype.....which Mel clears up by saying she's gone back and forth over that line haha.

I like both characters, though Marcus was a tad needy, but it didn't make it any less enjoyable......just more realistic.

Bit of a spoiler......it gives hope that things can happen/get back on track after years apart. Also that sexual chemistry can't always be worn out!!

Definitely an adult only read.....to be read alone as it gets pretty hot and very detailed!

TWO FOR TUESDAY is a cute title for this quick and steamy read since Tuesdays play an important part in the telling of this tale. Marcus is studying to be a doctor, and he’s in college on scholarships. When his path crosses with Melanie, their lives become intertwined in so many different ways.

Fast-forward and Marcus is a renowned cardiac surgeon in the big city. Melanie is a high school English teacher in a small town. Their paths cross again when he looks her up and makes his way to her after presenting at a medical conference. From there, the story heats up in more ways than one since she’s the one he’s never forgotten.

She’s his first love, and he’s always had a special place in her heart, but they both wanted different things in life. When they reconnect, do they! Marcus has a lot to work out in his personal life. Melanie’s got nothing but work-related obstacles and living in a small town in her way…except that Marcus isn’t single yet.

TWO FOR TUESDAY has a good flow with a lot of plot lines woven together nicely. There’s satisfying closure and a few surprises along the way. A heartwarming romance.

Ms. McGier writes books in many different genres, and her contemporary romances are my books of choice, even if they are steamy and often take me out of my comfort zone.

Melanie is one character I doubt I will ever forget. She is a total go getter in ways most women do not have the ability to even try. I was entertained by the two different worlds and the time it took for them to figure out how to find a place where the two could meet. Two for Tuesday is a wonderful romance with two very strong characters who each want a second chance and both must fight to get it.
