Good synopsis of the financing, engineering and construction of the Trans-Continental RR.

When I downloaded this book I thought it might be a somewhat dry read. Surprisingly, The book was very informative as to the total project from mere "what if we could" to completion, including the politics involved in making a go of it. This is a good read for railroad and history buffs.
