Yuuri Eda is a Japanese Light Novel writer. The genre of her works is Boys Love (BL). Her debut novel is「夏の塩」(2000). Yuuri Eda was one of the disciples of Azusa Nakajima ( 中島 梓, pen name of Kaoru Kurimoto / 栗本 薫. She uses the pen name 榎田ユウリ for her general audience (not BL) works. ※Her two names in Romanization are the same.
Humor is back in this volume after MC and ML having gone through an ordeal in the last 2 volumes. I like the most of it except when MC tried to save someone who had tried to rape him a couple times from getting shot and ML ended up getting shot. I feel like MC’s action didn’t make any sense at all even though the author tried to explain that deep down, MC has suicidal tendencies due to his unfortunate past. But it feels more like the author just wanted to make it more dramatic to give MC a taste of the possibility of losing ML forever.
I really love Mebuki's narration. This volume included one of my favourite scene's of the whole series, possibly - the moment before he's giving Hyoudou a blowjob is priceless.
Seriously, I'm still laughing.
Considering the picture at the beginning, you can be pretty sure that it ends well, and thus I wasn't quite so tense as during the previous volumes. Still, while I did want to smack Mebuki a couple of times for being so damn stupid, the fact that he knows he's being an idiot... actually doesn't help at all, but that's Mebuki for you.
Unable to refuse the previous head of the Uzawa group who is literally on his deathbed, he agrees to help free Uzawa's son Mario - who has been nothing but horrible to Mebuki, just as a reminder, what with trying to rape him *several times* - from his capture by the Shinwakai. That of course means that he has to try to persuade Hyoudou to let Mario go..
Well, as usual, pretty much nothing goes as planned and some bad things happen. But all's well that ends well - and even though the title let me hope that Mebuki would finally be able to admit to himself what he's feeling, that doesn't quite happen, but the ending is satisfying enough.
And belying my previous comments, I really wish these two only the best.
Eda Yuuri really manages to make these characters seem like real people, and I am glad I still have another volume to spend some time with them.
面白くなかったかわけじゃないんだけど、いきなり表紙の絵で盛り下がり、どこかで読んだような筋書きにため息、あと関西弁のおちゃらけた感じも、過ぎると腹が立つ。ファンを意識して書くと、こうなってしまうのかなあ。It's not that I've not enjoyed the story, but the cover illustration devastated me from the beginning and I was not able to dip in the story wholeheartedly, thinking I somehow feel the story is already familiar to me. I'm originally from Kansai, so I do enjoy Kansai-ben sometimes here and there, but when they're used frequently to lighten the dense suffocating mood, kansai-ben didn't work right for me and I was terribly irritated.
