Excellent telling of African American's role in all facets of American culture. Drawing on decades of work done by Alain Leroy Locke (1885-1954), Butcher expands on Locke's work and completes the process of telling this paramount history. An excellent reference for anyone interested in American culture and the complex past that has led to the society we see before us.
