The present work contains a brief study of the various facets of Mithila folk-arts and paintings, which are unique in character having few parallels. Of late there has been great talk about this painting, the central inspiration of which revolves round popular religious themes and natural surroundings. About the
Dr. Upendra Thakur began his career as a College teacher in 1956 and is now working as University Professor and Head of the Department of Ancient Indian and Asian Studies at the University of Magadh, Bodh-Gaya (Bihar). He received higher education at the University of Calcutta and wrote his D.Phil. thesis there. H
