A very detailed, if unfortunately somewhat dated, book about Cichlids "of the world." I would recommend it if you are one who is interested in the general biology, nature, and habitat of Cichlids as a whole. If you are looking for specific details on the keeping, breeding, etc., of a specific species, there are other works to which one should refer.

It is nice, however, to get a general sense of location for various Cichlid species for one who is interested in making as natural a tank as possible which only includes fish which would actually occur together in the wild.
