OUR STORY
A beat-up old car, a few dollars in the pocket and a sense of adventure. In 1972 that’s all Tony and Maureen Wheeler needed for the trip of a lifetime – across Europe and Asia overland to Australia. It took several months, and at the end – broke but inspired – they sat at their kitchen table writing and stapling together their first travel guide, Across Asia on the Cheap. Within a week they’d sold 1500 copies and Lonely Planet was born. One hundred million guidebooks later, Lonely Planet is the world’s leading travel guide publisher with content to almost every destination on the planet.

Bought a copy of this phrasebook after first learning Polish as a hobby two years previously.

Obviously I didn't read it from start to finish but did study various sections at numerous intervals during 2008, the year I bought my copy, but continued to return to it less frequently in subsequent years.

In short, it's a well-presented manual for learning a difficult language.

i now know how to say that my butt hurts ("boli mnie pupa") which, after ten hours in economy, will probably be quite accurate. i also know how to say "i love toxic waste" ("kocham odpady toksyczne"), so i'm sure to be a big hit with all of the polish 'real genius' fans...
