The writing of this book was incredible. It captured my attention from the very first page. It was an incredibly painful and difficult book to read, especially when one of my distant ancestors was one of the worst men in the book. But I think that it’s a worthwhile book to read. We must know the horrors of history or else we’re doomed to repeat it. A must read if you’re from North Alabama.

Definitely not for everyone as it has some graphic details of torture, as a person with family ties to the area of events it was a good read full of information of the times.
