Alexander of Aphrodisas was one of the more prominent early Aristotelians. This book was composed as a refutation of the Stoic idea of fatalistic determinism. He largely supports his arguments using Aristotle’s writings.
I certainly would find myself more in the Aristotelian camp than the Stoic one when it comes to freewill vs determinism. This is a fairly thorough investigation of the topic and, even though the editor notes that Alexander occasionally misrepresents Stoic positions, he probably gets it right more often than not. Probably essential reading if one is investigating freewill vs determinism in early Philosophy.
