The Rogue wolves in the town of Newham are growing in numbers. Edwina's Alpha, Rhett Highcrest, wants to know why. Freshly heartbroken and unable to shift to wolf form, she feels like she has nothing to lose. She becomes a willing sacrifice to infiltrate the rogue encampment at the bottom of the mountain.
What Edwina doesn't anticipate is stumbling upon the Alpha of the rogues naked and showering. Even more so, why does her body feel hot and this tingling between her legs unbearable in his presence?
It's clear Hardy doesn't trust her, but the spiritual pull they have to one another is enough for him to keep her around. Just until he's able to unveil the truth of why she's come to the encampment and why she smells different than those with pure Lycanthrope blood.
Thru sweat and lust, neither of them anticipates a bond that forms while in the throes of passion. Because who would willingly give themselves to Hardy... the outcast, villainous Alpha of Snakes and Blood?
Quick enjoyable read. The chemistry between the characters wasn't deep. It was the sex and fated mates spell that made them connect. But I removed one star of my review because the footer formatting spoiled the story. Moreover, the last few chapters had several grammar/spelling errors.
Just when this was really getting good, it ends. Much too short. And to make it worse, there's no next for me to get into. Sighs. If I can remember to get back to this series I'd be interested in where it goes.
Edwina is a member of the Highcrest wolf pack and has never been able to shift. She doesn't know why, but doesn't feel anywhere near as special for it as her mom did for her. Her mother has been gone from the pack for over a year and her boyfriend of a year who'd promised to love her despite her deficiency recently returned to the pack newly mated to another woman. Edwina is hurt and heartbroken and though her father still lives in the pack and is close to the pack leader, Edwina is more than willing to leave the Hillcrest pack to go spy on the rogue pack down the mountain. Rhett, Alpha of the Hillcrest pack is anxious about what the rogues are up to and wants some people on the inside to report back to him. Edwina, with her inability to shift is believable as a member who was thrown out, along with Ozias who's another pack member, smaller, newer and younger but also likely to be thrown out.
Edwina and Ozias arrive at the rogue camp and encounter Hardy, the rogues' Alpha. The attraction between Edwina and Hardy is instant and intense, besides that, Hardy has a regular lover and Edwina and Ozias are supposed to be a couple as part of their story. It doesn't matter though because Hardy is almost as instantly possessive of Edwina as he is distrustful and instead of sleeping on the ground by the fire with Ozias, she's offered a space to sleep in Hardy's shed since the pack has no rooms available for the pair. In the matter of a couple of days, Edwina and Hardy go from first meet to mated when she goes into heat just prior to the full moon and shifts for the first time. This all made possible by several facts. Edwina's mother had put a spell on Edwina and had been renewing it every year so that her daughter couldn't shift because once shifted, that magic would fail to work. Since Mom has been gone over a year, Edwina is able to shift. Edwina learns that her pack severely injured a 12-year-old in the rogue pack so badly that the youth can't walk. And Edwina decides that no matter the outcome of her spy mission she'll never return to the Hillcrest pack. Hardy is giving Edwina the forever she yearns for with the Luna bond.
Okay, so it's short so not enough information is given or time to get a good feel of anyone really, but it's still an engaging page turner. There are typos. Too many of them for such a short book. It needs more details and better understanding of motives for the characters involved, particularly Cody, who is the ex that keeps popping up even though he's mated. I don't get it. There's hints at things that don't make any additional page time and there are hints about certain other facts that aren't explained or delved into further. With a bit of clean up and lengthening, I think this book could've been amazing. As it is, it's a good read and smoking hot but needs more.
First I didn’t know this was a cliffhanger, I read those differently I want for all the of the story to come out. Or at least close to the next release, I don’t care for the wait. This was a great story, I mean it had me on the edge of my seat, all the way to the end, with no satisfaction. I want to know what is Edwina going to do, will Hardy rescue her before she is brought back to her pack. I hope the part2 comes out real quick, it is a really great story.
I enjoyed reading this story. It was a little distracting with the editing footnotes still visible. However, the characters had a good base and the plot wasn't completely instalove or sex. I am looking forward to reading the continuation of the story and see where the author takes it. I would suggest a final edit check before posting. Even with the best of stories, when there are editing errors it pulls my focus and dissipates the bubble of immersion to concentrate on what is being conveyed.
The editing wasn't so freaking horrible!! Wtf is sg6.. sg2?? Half sentences.. plenty of spelling/grammar mistakes!! Ugh, it's so disappointing because the story is actually pretty good. You can definitely edit it and resubmit it. I feel like people these days are just throwing stuff together at the last minute. The art of being an author is going down the drain. I'm going to ask Kindle to make it so we can rate books in half or quarter stars. This definitely would be a 3.5-3.75.
OMG! This book is amazing…a must read. Love Edwina and Hardy. Can’t wait for the next continuation to read the outcome of Rhett and his murderous team of rouges.
I put off reading this book due to its boring cover art.... But BOY was I wrong. In starting to read, it instantly captured my attention. There were some grammar and editing errors but they were minor. I will be reading the next books from this author.
Whew! Original and fantastic entry in the shifter romance genre. And well written BWWM IR, too? Satisfying. Wish it wasn’t a cliffhanger but eagerly anticipating the conclusion.
This story has great potential, but feels a bit rushed in places. Also, comments were left in the document which gave away the ending. The comments are a bit distracting during reading as well.
I wished the author would have added more details to the story. The concept is great but I felt like the story was rushed. I like to feel like I’m in that world with the character. Overall great story and I can’t wait to read the second book.
Loved the book the sample grabbed me and wouldn’t let me go until I download the whole book then that wouldn’t let me go until it was finished it way to soon.
I think the chemistry between the MC's was good, I was rooting for them. I don't know if I loved the book though or was indifferent, but It drew me in enough to make me want to read the next book.
I love the chemistry between Hardy and Edwina. I was sad of the bullying that Edwina had to endure with her pack. Even with the way things turning out the way it did she was willing to sacrifice herself for her pack. When Hardy came upon Edwina he had an attraction to her though he didn’t trust her. Hardy felt a undeniable pull to protect Edwina nonetheless. Looking forward to the next book. Thank you Ms. Sabrina.
