As the Covid 19 pandemic has ravaged the world, this chronology, beginning in early 2020, with "Corona, What Are You, and ending in the summer of 2021 with "Covid, the Final Chapter" details the ups and downs, the victories of science, the horrors of this disease, and the human response to a virological nightmare. This book consists of twenty poems. The initial and final poems are in rhymed format, while the remaining poems are in narrative form. All of the poems contain vivid imagery and language that depict both the physical and emotional strains this unprecedented viral intruder has caused for the populations and economies of the world. The book ends with a lingering question that is both valid and haunting.
I have been writing rhymed poetry since childhood. Language has always been my fascination, and I have worked in the field of language in a habilitative and rehabilitative context for over 30 years as a speech and language pathologist. My avocation has been writing poetry and over the years, I have published several single poems in various publications. For the first time, I recently compiled a short book of poetry, "Rhyme & Reason," which uses rhyme as the vehicle for unveiling truths about relationships with self, with others, and with the world and universe. I find it challenging and satisfying to tell stories that have universal emotive appeal in a rhymed format. I hope my readers find it equally satisfying to read them.
I have also been interested in writing nonfiction books based upon my career in speech and langualge pathology, and relevant for to those interested in education, psychology, technology and parenting. My non-fiction book, "The ABCs of Childhood..." is also available.
