The author wrote a fantastic modern day adventure. The story could actually be a bit of real life, what can actually happen to you. Her characters come off as being true Irish. Instead of the Vampires coming out of the darkness, they have their own subterranean world. They don't drink human blood. Maybe they aren't true Vampires. I'll let you read the book for those answers. This author has a fresh imagination and leads you into a new world of the vampires or whatever they are..I would recommend this YA read to anyone. You don't have to be young to read fantasy adventures. You just need to be young at heart. The author gives you just that, a modern, fresh view for the young and young at heart. The book is rather fast paced but the storyline keeps you wanting that. You can't wait to find out what is on the next page.
About the Author:
Diana Bastine has been interested in reading and writing for as long as she can remember. She was a library helper in elementary school and has worked in libraries and bookstores as an adult, as well as the standardized test scoring business. Diana s been reading since before she entered kindergarten, and writing since at least the fifth grade. She came up with the original idea for The Source along with a friend nearly twenty years ago; the first draft was an unimpressive 50-odd pages. But Diana kept returning to it over the years, and it now bears very little resemblance to that early version for which she is humbly thankful. Diana still likes to read as well as write and has even rediscovered her love of comic books and graphic novels. She would love to try her hand at one someday in the future just as soon as she learns how to draw.
I give this book a 5 STAR rating.

Great Irish local color, intriguing characters, and a fast-paced narrative with a truly original origin for the legend of vampirism. Hint: It isn't human blood they're drinking. Another hint: They don't crawl out of their tombs. They have a underground civilization.
But who are "they" who are mistaken for vampires? For that you have to read the book, which I heartily recommend.
