This Wagner book is unashamedly an overview of the man and his music, which is just what I wanted. Published by the Metropolitan Opera, it includes a plethora of pictures, mostly from the Met but well chosen to illustrate the master's life and work. Wagner was hardly what I would call admirable, but those operas!
