Rate this book
First published more than 400 years ago, The Herbal or General History of Plants by John Gerard provided a vast storehouse of botanical information. This handsome collection of over 200 beautiful illustrations selected from that famous publication depicts a wide array of those fruits, vegetables, herbs, and garden flowers.
Included in the set are one CD-ROM containing 214 high-quality, permission-free images scanned at 600 dpi and saved in six different formats (TIFF, PICT, EPS, BMP, as well as Internet-ready JPEG and GIF); and a large-format 48-page book with every image on the CD-ROM printed large and clearly and numbered for easy reference. Also included on the CD-ROM is Dover Design Manager, a simple graphics editing program for Windows.
Ideal for craftwork as well as for use in gardening books, cookbooks, and general-interest publications, these illustrations will also delight any herbal enthusiast.

The illustrations are very nice but you have to cross-reference with the printed book because the names of the plants are not on the disc!
