As a single mother, I’ve learned to be resourceful. I’ve learned how to make enough time in the day to do it all. I’ve learned to make a meal out of the most random items in the cupboard. And I’ve managed to watch the biggest piece of my heart leave every other weekend and run to the arms of the man she loves most in this world. In Lieu of Child Support is a compilation of poems of how I’ve gotten here. The love, the loss, and everything in between. As the co-parent of the coolest kid around, I work everyday with her dad to make sure that all of our efforts are put into giving her the life she deserves. Instead of fighting each other, we fight to make HER world better. I will continue to work hard, using my talents and every ounce of energy in my body to support my child…In Lieu of Child Support.
Loved this! Words from the heart and for the heart. Although I don't have children (yet), I can relate to many poems on the relationship side of things...
