Thomas Mann was a German novelist, short story writer, social critic, philanthropist, essayist, and Nobel Prize laureate in 1929, known for his series of highly symbolic and ironic epic novels and novellas, noted for their insight into the psychology of the artist and the intellectual. "Der ganze Saal, erfüllt von dem Dufte angesengter Tannenzweige, leuchtete und glitzerte von unzähligen kleinen Flammen, und das Himmelblau der Tapete mit ihren weißen Götterstatuen ließ den großen Raum noch heller erscheinen."
Das berühmte Weihnachtskapitel aus Thomas Manns Roman Buddenbrooks, plus einem Rezeptanhang. Ich muss zugeben, ich habe die Buddenbrooks immer noch nicht gelesen, fand aber den Schreibstil in diesem kleinen Büchlein überraschend gut zu lesen und werde mich vielleicht nächstes Jahr an den großen Klopper wagen. Bis dahin habe ich hier ein bisschen herrschaftliche Weihnachtsluft geschnuppert.

Ich habe die Rezepte ausprobiert. Lecker. Und ansonsten - Buddenbrooks halt.

Auskoppelung des Weihnachtskapitels aus dem Roman, ergänzt um Rezepte der dort geschilderten Speisen. Macht Lust, die "Buddenbrooks" wieder einmal in Gänze zu lesen.
