Seeking the Wisdom of the Heart: Reflections on Seven Stages of Spiritual Development

Rate this book
Looking for the keys to true happiness and fulfillment? Join author and therapist Dr. Patricia Romano McGraw on a journey toward a deeper, more intimate knowledge of your spiritual self. Through reflections, questions, and personal stories, McGraw leads readers on a journey toward enlightenment by narrating her own search for spiritual meaning as she reads, reflects, and writes in her personal journal about the Seven Valleys, an important work about spiritual development written by Baha'u'llah, the founder of the Baha'i Faith. In her previous book, It's Not Your How Healing Relationships Change Your Brain & Can Help You Overcome a Painful Past , she offered a unique perspective on the effects of emotional trauma and explained how relationships can assist and accelerate the healing process. But how does one heal when there is no one around to help? Does healing necessarily require a relationship with a therapist? How does one take personal responsibility for his or her own inner healing? Seeking the Wisdom of the Heart discusses these questions and more, guiding the reader to begin living from the "inside out." Sharing experiences and reflections on her own "inside out" journey, Dr. McGraw offers hope for anyone who wants to begin the healing journey of spiritual growth.

This book builds upon the author's "It's Not Your Fault: How Healing Relationships Change Your Brain and Can Help You Overcome a Painful Past." "Seeking the Wisdom of the Heart: Reflections on the Seven Stages of Spiritual Development" adds the dimension of searching for our true, spiritual selves. It suggests that the way we approach our relationship with God can be the key to creating a truly loving and compassionate relationship with ourselves. The author presents much of the book in the form of a journal documenting her personal growth but also includes questions for the reader to ponder and meditation exercises to practice.
