Danny the Dinosaur feels frustrated about being smaller and quieter than all of his family members. This picture book is an easy reader with simple illustrations that correlate in a very obvious way with the text. Normally, I prefer to have different information communicated on some level between the text and pictures. But because this is an easy reader, it seems appropriate for the pictures to mirror the words almost exactly. This isn’t the most cleverly written or illustrated book, but it serves its purpose. This book is accessible for young children who are first learning to read, and it also teaches a lesson about being happy with our own strengths and characteristics.
