This is a book I have loaned to a number of non-catholic friends to help them understand the Rosary and how it is used to deepen your faith. Everyone I have lent it to has come away with fresh insight and clearer vision. Kelly does an excellent job of showing the history of the rosary, and its purpose in our lives. Her chapters are:
What is the Rosary
The Rosary Then and Now
Mary in Our Lives
A Part into Prayer
The Rosary as Meditation
We Joyfully Adore: The Joyful Mysteries
Hold the Lamp: The Luminous Mysteries
Sorrow in the Mix: The Sorrowful Mysteries
The Promise of Glory: The Glorious Mysteries
A Place to Grow: Variations on the Rosary
This book is a great tool in your spiritual toolbox.

An excellent book which shows why the rosary is a superb form of meditation for the christian regardless of whether you are Catholic or not. There are many attacks on the rosary and particularly praying the Hail Mary, but if one would simply look it is based on scripture and what it says can hardly be denied her and further Jesus is central to the prayer and the rosary in general. The mysteries are explained, even the new ones (luminious), which allow meditation on the complete life of Jesus. The book is peppered with personal experiences of the author and of others as well which show how this simple form of meditation has changed their lives in good ways. She also gives an interesting history, though short, of early Marian prayers and how the rosary developed into its modern form which I am personally glad for only I wished there had been more to this section than there was. I would say if you have ever considered taking up the rosary you should read this book first and get a grounding and then go for it.

I learned so much from this book. It answered so many of my questions. I could easily highlight every page. The author describes her own experiences, which makes the book much more relatable and engaging. I know I will carry it with me as I learn the rosary.

I adored so much of this book. It helped me view the rosary prayer in another light- many other lights, actually. I grew up watching my grandparents pray the rosary. As an adult now, I treasured coming into a full understanding of how they sought God.

I really enjoyed this book once I got into it. It goes through all the mysteries, including the luminous mysteries. It also goes over some variations, which I hadn't heard of before. Everything is explained pretty well, and I liked the personal anecdotes that were included as well.

Note -- I'm not sure why, but the author listed on Goodreads is NOT the author on my book. My book is by Liz Kelly.

I was raised in a Protestant tradition where Marian devotion was questioned and even looked down upon. This book sets straight the value of Rosary meditation in a straightforward and helpful way. Meditations on each of the "Mysteries" are wonderful.
