The Northern Traditional Dancer

Rate this book
The Northern Traditional Dancer as well as The Modern Fancy Dancer are valuable additions to the short list of books on powwow dances. Each book begins with a discussion of the origin of the respective dance and traces the history of the dances as they evolved into the styles of today. The sections on costume construction are concise and easy to follow. They include step-by-step instructions on the techniques and materials used to create the basic costumes and accessories for each dance. The text is complimented by back and white photographs of early dancers and beautiful color photographs of modern dancers in their full regalia.
