In this powerful, poignant and distinctively South African collection of short stories, Rayda Jacobs - leaving suddenly for Canada at the age of 21, to return for good only 27 years later - seeks to understand the deep marks that South Africa has left upon her.
I really enjoyed this book, and have just bought two of Rayda Jacob's other books.
I liked the mix of seriousness, humor and dilemmas, and I feel I know a lot more about the modern South Africa.
I really don't like bleak depressing books, so I thought it was wonderful to find a writer, who can write about serious, troubling issues in a way that also makes the reader wonder and smile from time to time.
