I found this to be a very interesting book. I first heard about this book last semester in one of my child life classes. This book is a guide for children to the topic of death and funerals. It helps to explain to a child what it is and what all may go along with it. It give a chance for the child to ask questions and for the parent or caregiver to see where they are at in their understanding of the information. It has different sections in the book such as, Why do people die?, Does it hurt to die?, What happens at a funeral home?, What will it be like at a church service?, What happens at the cemetery?, What can I do about my sad feelings?, What will heaven be like?, When will everything be okay again? This book is truly helpful to children. I would use this book as a child life specialist in the hospital because it can help not only my patients, but siblings and family members as well. This is a way for my to help them to see where they are at in their understanding and to find out if their is anymore intervention they might need. I would not have an activity for this book because I feel like this book does the job on its on. It helps a child open up and to express their anxieties/concerns to allow a specialist to help them through this point in their life.
