This National Geographic book is about a lady named Sylvia Earle, who spent most of her life exploring and protecting the ocean. The book talks about the different ways she would protect the ocean, and the findings she discovered. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. “Today, Sylvia still holds the record for the deepest dive by any person using such a suit without a connection to the surface” (page 5). This book can give children insight to the different ways that the seas can be protected. The book discusses different tools used in order to protect the seas. This book can help children become more knowledgeable about the ocean, and the different ways to protect it. The real-life photos in the book help children pair the words with photos, making it become real to them. The highlighted vocabulary can help children learn new words by referring to the vocabulary list in the back of the book.
