The Firestorm Conspiracy: Book One of the Firestorm Saga

Rate this book
"I'm done with the UESF. I'm done with ships, and space, and fighting wars! I'm done." " For John Thompson, space holds no mystique. The unforgiving void stole his wife, his daughter, his soul. Once a top UESF fleet commander, John is now living a life of self-imposed solitude as a university professor. But when an old war-buddy-turned-politician begs for help uncovering the truth behind disturbing rumours, John must choose: standby as humanity is plunged into a war it can't possbily win, or take up the mantle he abandoned on the battlefield decades earlier. Surrounded by hidden enemies--and unrecognized friends--John must find the alien agent who sent the warning before it is too late. "One conspiracy, two reluctant heroes, and a meeting destined to alter the fate of billions of lives.

About the author

Cheryl Angst

Cheryl Angst is a new writer on the YA scene. She loves teen literature and reads it faster than should be legal (just ask her husband who had to move over 40 huge boxes of books into their new home).

Cheryl lives just outside Vancouver, Canada and her writing addiction is enthusiastically supported by her husband and children. She pays for her writing habit by teaching math, science, and English to pre-teens.

The Firestorm Conspiracy is her first novel. It's sci-fi and it's for adults, but despite those flaws, it's still a darn good read. Look for her upcoming YA titles as they're announced!

I love this book, so much so that I read it more than once. On the surface it's a story involving space and war and intrigue and very cool aliens. The plot's interesting and original and the action scenes alone would have kept me interested. But ultimately it goes so much deeper than that - the story of flawed but decent people trying to make the best of impossible circumstances, while beating their personal demons into submission. The characters are real, layered, and incredibly well fleshed out and the emotion rings absolutely true, without overshadowing the rest of the story. I never lost sight of the fact that I was reading a well-crafted science fiction novel. There's even a hint of romance and the promise of more should the hoped-for sequel ever arrive. I can't recommend it too highly - definitely well worth the read.

This was an amazing book, Mrs. Angst! I was going along the internet and was wondering if you had any books out, and I saw this one. The description was fantastic and the cover is mesmerizing so I recently ordered it. I received it yesterday and I just finished it now. It was a truly fantastic book and I am very proud :) Some of the people in Grade 6 are in my class now and we wanted to say we miss you a lot! Thank you for this amazing book and I will treasure it forever.
Sincerely, Dallis
