".highly recommended.it makes the subject of healing easy to understand for everyone."--Blyth Tait, Olympic Gold Medal winner.
Lay your hands on a horse--and channel comforting, healing energy to him. A legendary healer, famous for her ability to deal with horses and their problems, shows you how. Anyone can apply these techniques to improve an equine's well-being and they're safe, free of side effects, and work on just about any condition. Use them alone or with other remedies so they'll work on a deeper level. After understanding what these methods do and why they benefit horses so much, you'll find out how to give a treatment. Where to put your hands is of utmost importance, and a chart guides you to the points on a horse's body that affect different conditions. Target specific ailments (like old age, arthritis, and grief), provide first aid, and give comfort. Prevent problems, too, and produce a feeling of inner calm in your horse. And, in case you didn't know, horses have chakras, too--areas of maximum energy intake that have particular power. When you lay hands over these points, you'll feel the resistance of energy flowing out. Find out about other natural therapies as well (including homeopathy and massage)--and read over the case they're informative and inspiring! A Main Selection of the Doubleday Select Equestrian Club.
As Reiki Master I was very interested to read this introduction to hands-on healing (laying on hands) for horses, which Margrit describes as an ancient healing technique that anyone can do to some degree and requires no symbols or initiation. The case studies and stories she shared were very touching and inspiring. I was intrigued to learn about her discovery of what she calls the brachial chakra, having read about it in her other book Healing for Pets. I really enjoyed reading this and feel it woul dmake a great reference book and addition to my personal library.
When someone returned this to the library where I work, I picked it up and looked through it. I figure at the very least I'll spend some time with my mare just being together. If it does more...fabulous! I DO believe horses have a powerful energy (I know, sounds crazy - but just stand quietly with your hands on a horse's neck and you'll be able to feel it!).
Ok...gave this a shot with the mare prone to thrush. It either helped three hooves or prevented one from healing. I'll be giving this another try.
This was a great introduction to energy work with horses. Part memoir, part educational, Coates has written an easy to read and helpful place to start learning about this alternative therapy. She stresses several times that this is a book written for the horse owner to work with their own horses and it is not a replacement for veterinary care or a qualification to become a professional. These are both important points the reader must keep in mind.
If you are a horse person looking for alternative ways to communicate and build a relationship with your horse. I recommend this book. Bring an open mind and positive energy. If you approach and read the material with a negative attitude about alternative therapies or holistic medicine, I don't think you'll gain anything from this book.
Very good book, well written and clear on indications. This kind of books is important to give horses a voice. I like the specific instuctions given and the photos and drawings present when they were, indeed, needed.
