I like the idea of these projects, but I don't like any of the examples. I will have to invent my own.

2.5 stars. Definitely not for beginners, as there are a lot of techniques mentioned without explanation, most of which sound like complicated quilting methods (at least to this beginner). The projects are heavily weighted toward Advent calendars, and about a quarter of the projects are the same basic design with only minor differences. There are very few step-by-step illustrations to aid comprehension. On the plus side, the templates in the back are all at 100% scale.

I liked this idea, but the title is misleading. Not even half the projects are "countdown calendars". I picked it out because I want to find advent calendars, but I didn't like the few shown. There are other cute projects, though. I was inspired by some things.

Needs more pictures. I like the author biographies. There is only one project I'll likely do.
