From the moment Celeste Dawson was born, her big sister, Katrina, had it in for her; and as much as Celeste yearned for Katrina’s love, the sibling rivalry only got worse. For Celeste, the ultimate betrayal came when she was seventeen, and Katrina seduced her boyfriend. That was the day Celeste gave up trying for any kind of friendship with her sister. Now the two are grown, married, and leading separate lives. Until tragedy strikes. When her husband is found murdered in a seedy motel room in a very compromising position, Celeste is devastated. Rather than comfort her, Katrina is more than happy to suggest that Celeste wasn’t properly "taking care of" her man. But the tables soon turn as Katrina’s husband falls into a coma from an illness no one knew he had. And that’s not the only surprise; Katrina is shocked to learn that her husband was living a life she knew nothing about that will turn her world upside down. Oblivous as ever, Celeste’s parents want her to help Katrina fight back—even as she’s looking for her own husband’s killer. Blindsided as she is by grief, Celeste can’t help now that she and Katrina are finally on the same side of pain—will blood finally become thicker than a history of jealousy and deceit?
2007 was a wonderful year for me. Although I have been published by major mainstream publishers, this year I chose to return to the self-publishing arena (Living, Breathing Lies) in order to continue to write the stories I like to write. I am so appreciative of those readers who have continued to read my books despite who my publisher is. I always say, "Never let anyone tell you that you can't; show them that you can." I am about staying on the literary path I asked God to set my feet upon. I hope you, as well, are going about fulfilling your dreams and letting no one bound your mind, soul, or hands.
Also this year, my latest book, Living, Breathing Lies placed as a WINNER in the USA Book News National Best Books Award for 2007 in African American Fiction (USABookNews.com). Do I count this as a blessing? You bet I do.
Currently, I am working on my 10th title, SASSY, due out June 2008.

I'm so glad that my book club decided to choose this book as their BOM. This book was so full of family and relationship drama that it left my head spinning. I will say that some things were left answered for me. I wanted to know why Celeste and Katrina's relationship was so toxic
This book was good with a lot of mystery and suspense. I have tried to find other books of hers but have been unsuccessful. This book keeps you guessing. I have recommended this book to several of my friends. They all enjoyed it.
Wow what a roller coaster ride!!! A well-paced read with enough drama to keep you entertained and a storyline that kept you guessing until the end. I do wish that we could have found out why Katrina hated her sister so much. I kept waiting for the reason to come out and I was disappointed that It was never revealed the reason for the intense hatred she felt for Celeste. I also did not care for the way it ended. I really wanted for Katrina to get some type of payback for her evil manipulative ways but it never really happened. Other than that I really liked how it was set up so that you thought you knew but you didn't really know until the end all the twist and turns that would play out in the book. I would recommend if you like titles to keep you guessing but if you are turned of by language and I mean quite a bit of harsh language you probably want to pass this up.
I really enjoyed the book. Although the book focused a lot on one conversation in particular and dedicated one full chapter to that, it was a great read. it was a bit scandalous and adventurous at the same time. The title definitley fit the story. I like every surprise in this book and didn't expext the muderer to be who it was in the end. Overall, I loved this book and would recommend it to my peers.
This book was off the chain from start to finish. The story flowed perfectly to keep you in suspense until the last page. I read it cover to cover in a day. I loved it loved it loved it!!!!!!!
I read this book practically in one day, I could not put it down! All the characters are unique in their own way. This was my first book read by this author and I want to read ALL her books.
I really enjoy all of this authors work and I am a fan of all things that she write and I think that once you have read this book you will want to read other things by this author.
This was another amazing old school author I found at the library after a suggestion. There were plenty twists and turns, and it was a phenomenal read. I loved it.
