A novel is a love affair, with its ups and downs, but a short story can sometimes be nothing more than a one night stand, a brief date, or a quick kiss in the dark.
Flashed! is a collection of 36 very short, "flash fiction" stories and a handful of love poems by J.M. Snyder, best-selling author of gay erotic romance. Each vignette is a glimpse into the lives and loves of very different couples. Some erotic, some bittersweet, every story in this collection celebrates a passion found only between two men.
From drag queens to college hoops players, veterans to rockstars, one time lovers to lifelong companions, men at work to men in tights, there's a little something for everyone in this collection. Some of these stories were once posted to the author's blog or appeared online elsewhere, but fans will find many new stories -- and characters -- to love once they've been Flashed!
An author of gay erotic/romantic fiction, J.M. Snyder began in self-publishing and worked with Amber Allure, Aspen Mountain, eXcessica, and Torquere Presses.
Snyder's highly erotic short gay fiction has been published online at Amazon Shorts, Eros Monthly, Ruthie's Club, and Tit-Elation, as well as in anthologies by Alyson Books, Aspen Mountain, Cleis Press, eXcessica Publishing, Lethe Press, and Ravenous Romance.
In 2010, Snyder founded JMS Books LLC, a royalty-paying queer small press that publishes in both electronic and print format. For more information on newest releases and submission guidelines, please visit JMS Books LLC online.
Reviewed by Allie: This is a collection of shorts. Some are fantasy and some are contemporary. Some were a little odd, some a little slow but some left me wanting to learn more about the characters. There were some that were so short I would blink and they would be over. But the ones that left me wanting to read more were what made this book an enjoyable enough read.
I am not a short story kind of reader, and the stories leaving me wanting to find out more emphasized this fact to me. In all, the book was an interesting way to fill a few minutes, here and there, while doing other things on a slow weekend.
This is a series of short stories and poems. I really liked some of them and found a couple of them a little odd. The ones I really liked left me wanting to read more. I usually prefer a nice long read with lots of meat on its bones so reading some of these short stories (the ones I was getting engrossed in) left me wanting more. Perhaps some would be a good basis for longer reads one day.
