I bought this book on Kindle when I saw it because, first of all, it was only a dollar, and second of all, it sounded interesting. I started reading this book with low expectations because I know this is a self-published piece and I expected it to be horrible/mediocre or somewhere in-between. I definitely did not expect that I would love the book this much.

Now, this book isn't perfect. The plot has a lot of holes, there are some editing mistakes, and some of the characters aren't very dynamic. However, I still give this book 5 stars. Why? Because it is the funniest damn book I've ever read. No kidding. It's normally hard to make me laugh, and this book had me in tears. The main character, Devon, is so refreshing to see in this genre. She's cold, sarcastic, and badass. Her negativity really makes the story.

Devon Falls is a twentysomething; she's got two BFF's; Rachel and Shani, her boyfriend of one year; Josh, and a good job as a nurse. On the surface, she's a regular girl. But no, scratch that: Devon Falls is anything BUT. She's got serious rage issues, extreme touch phobia and is a virgin to boot.

Things go from bad to worse when she one day returns home from work early, only to discover Josh in bed with another woman. (I bet I know what you're thinking, haha;-)) Add a couple of wannabe rapists, some weird, but very handy powers and two shady characters who claim to be fallen angels and the embodiment of the seven Deadly Sins. They promptly give her an ultimatum; work for us as the new Wrath, or we'll send your best friends' souls to hell. Not surprisingly, she agrees to their terms. And so begins Devin's reign as Wrath. Having been voted most likely to become a government assassin/serial killer in high school, her learning curve is not as steep as one would expect. Anger and revenge comes natural to Devon, though she's not as keen on death and total destruction as her six immortal colleagues. Besides, not all the Sins are overjoyed at the prospect of working alongside a human, so be prepared for plenty of blood, gore and human deaths. Some even at Devon's hands.

This book's trademark humor reminds me of Darynda Jones and Robyn Peterman, but alas, it's not as funny. The humor sometimes seems forced. Don't get me wrong, there were quite a few LOL moments, like Devon's cock-blocker/supernatural chastity belt moments. But most of all; Nick. BTW: Guess who he's supposed to represent?! (Those of you who have read my reviews will now just how unimpressed I am each and every time an author decides to name the Prince of Darness "Luke", "Luce" or "Nick." (*Exasperated sigh*)

So yeah, his name might not be to my liking, but his character is. Nick (AKA Lust, AKA "I don't bite, I lick")is a charmingly devious SOB who doesn't want to take no for an answer.("Devon," he sighs. "Yes or no." Fuck you! "I'll take that as a yes. Come here" ... I hate you "Great. We'll have angry sex.")

However: Nick isn't my favorite character. I actually have a soft spot for stud brother #2, AKA, Sam, AKA Greed. His quiet support and obvious affection was very sweet. Not that I think Devon should trust any of the Sins completely, mind you.

Overall, though, I found the characters to be a little too juvenile for my liking. Again, they are immortals, for pity's sake! Yes, they have absorbed human emotions over the years, but doesn't that mean they should've absorbed more adult/mature aspects a well?

Not a bad start to a series. But, before I forget: You should probably know that book #3 was due out in November 2012. It's still not out, and the author stopped communicating with her fans around the same time. Does this mean that the series has been abandoned? I don't know, but bear in mind you'll not get closure if you decide to start reading these books. Things may change, but I am not hopefull...

Well I read this book ages ago, and iv'e read many since and this one is still on my top 10. I loved the plot, the characters, and the overall feel of the book. From the very first moment I was hooked, I mean who wouldn't when the first scene is just so hilarious.

"I don't want to tell you how I know she isn't a real blonde. Guess. Cathy Mahoney is wearing nothing but my (MY!) pink stethoscope and she's holding a broom. She's shaking tremendously, staring at me with her big blue eyes and she looks scared. Slowly it dawns on me that she was here, in my boyfriends apartment, doing weird things to his privates while I was at the hospital, covering her shift.
Which makes me angrier? Being called in on my day off for duplicitous reasons, or discovering my boyfriends is cheating on me with my coworker and a broom? Hard to say..."

There are lots of funny moments in this novel, some had me clutching my stomach I was laughing so hard. Yeah, some of the humor in this is a bit dark, but considering that this is from the perspective of wrath, one of the seven deadly sins, its kind of to be expected.

Devon is just such an awesome character, she funny, brave, but not stupidly brave, and her reactions are just so brilliant. Amakan did a brilliant job with all the characters in this book but Devon is just something totally new to me, her perspective is just so refreshing. Its not about her trying to be a good little nephilim and fight bad guys. No, she is the bad guy, she loves her job, yet she can still feel remorse and guilt. She is so unlike any other female character I have ever read, unlike all the girls in literally every YA series out there she is on the bad team and isn't that girl who is like "I never wanted these powers or responsibilities, I want to be normal", because honestly who wants to be normal.

The rest of the characters are equally well written, perhaps not to the standard of best selling novel but well enough. Sam, oh Sam (swoon). So Sam, a.k.a Greed, is and I quote "a nasty old grouchy man trapped in the body of a really hot young guy". Doesn't sound great but as you get to know him throughout the book trust me you will love him. I really loved all the characters throughout the novel and how well they were suited to Devon.

Loved it! Literally had me in tears because I was laughing so hard. For some reason my favourite part was when Devon set everyone except the wife on the cheating husband. I had tears streaming down my face that just wouldn't stop because I was laughing like some crazed rabid animal.
It started off hilarious and kept going. I really need to get a hold of Bad Angels because I am hoping it will be just as funny.
I even liked the story line. I especially enjoyed how Devon became Wrath, rather than her just being it for no good reason.
I had to stop myself from writing down every quote that tickled me, otherwise I would have ended up quoting the entire book!

Wrath has its perks

What's not to love? You can identify with Devon due to her history, and the job? Who wouldn't like to teach those truly deserving a critical lesson?

Can't wait to see the next installment! Who knows, maybe she'll get the chance to make an impact on some well deserving child abductor or serial rapist\killer; those kind could use the tables turned on them by a victim.....to very traumatic and painful effect for the bad guy! Can think of all kinds of comeuppances I hope might be included!

I like the way it's put together, making what should be abhorrent characters humanesque and twistedly likeable.

I reeeealy like the protagonist here. Funny and perpetually angry using anger to deal with every situation she doesn't want to deal with. Unfortunately this witty angry and funny protagonist becomes the typical paranormal romance heroine (you know the kind: gets moist between her legs at the sight of the male lead and has superpowers that make her The Messiah of the book's setting and have all males - or at least just the two she's in a love triangle with - bow to her greatness). So. Awesome character, interesting twist and it all goes to shit when she has to suddenly fight demons. Could've been a good story if not for the cliche demon wars.

This was one of my first purchases on my kindle, so really my first real insight into indie authors. I loved it. While the writing itself, tense etc, was a little hard to deal with. The story itself, the characters and in general... well, I'd never enjoyed a book so much. At points I was crying with laughter. The humor is brilliant, laugh out load, clutching your e-reader to your chest funny. I've actually reread it a couple times as well, which isn't something I typically do. It was that good.

I've read both this book and the next and laughed out loud whilst in company, that fact alone has me giving this book 5 stars . The humour's very adolescent and irreverent, writing's not bad, there's plenty of action and the heroine is just plain quirky and slightly insane.
I'm hoping there's a book 3. I'm really hoping there's a book 3.

Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome. AWESOME! I loved everything - Devon's voice, the casual action. I didn't really expect much from a story about the Seven Deadly Sins, but every personality ws so well constructed, and I loved the way the story flowed like I was actually immersed in Devon's thoughts. I don't honestly think this can be topped, not this year. I definately recommend this.
