These days college is not a luxury but a necessity. With four (or more) long years of college life ahead of them, it's essential that students have some help to make the most of their time. This book explains how, featuring peers who talk directly and personally to students. Here, hundreds of successful college grads explain how to get top grades, find the right major, manage time, stay motivated, avoid stress, seek out the best teachers and courses, form important relationships, and graduate — happily — at the top of the class. Short, pithy chapters cover such topics as writing a good paper, research and the college library, taking advantage of college support services, balancing athletics and academics, navigating modern college technology, and more.
My dad really wanted me to read a book about college life and to be honest, I wasn't in favor. I have to say that I was thoughourly impressed once I read it. The advice from the students covered a wide range of issues, even some of the worries I had. So I ended up reading it with a highlighter forever infused in my hand (I'm such a nerd). The best part about it is that I know this book will help me and I'm going to use a lot of the advice. Thanks Dad and thanks to all the awesome students who took part in this book!
It has real grads with real situations is the first thing someone should know reading it. To see not just one person's point of view but many others was most one of the things I needed to see. As a person who wasn't quite sure about college this is helpful, if just to see it on paper. It also lists the person's name, GPA (if they chose), and what university they came from.
A good collection of quotes and snippets from students on their experience in higher education. I am preparing to go back to school, so this was a nice inspiring read that took the weight off of my decision, and provided some courage and encouragement.
Since going back to school last year, I am always open to learning new study techniques and learning tips. This book is filled with testimonials from students with things that work and things that do not. Check it out!
