This is a great introduction to marketing, branding and social networking for those starting out in indie publishing.

It gives helpful pointers in establishing your brand, clearly identifying what it means and how you should go about it and continues to explain the fundamental principles of marketing. The authors offer their own experiences, showing how they marketed their own books and sound, common sense advice.

Blogging and social networking is also explained, informing the potential indie author the benefits of this type of publicity. There's a great tip list that you can refer back to when conducting book signings and radio interviews are also covered.

I gave it 3 stars as I felt there were some crucial areas not given enough attention, such as Goodreads, Facebook pages and sponsored posts via high traffic sites, like Kindle Nation, Pixel of Ink etc. Used correctly, these are great forums and sales boosters.

However, I've yet to find any one book that is totally comprehensive. This is most suited to the beginner in the industry, although I still found plenty of useful tips in here.

This is a surprisingly helpful book, full of tips for marketing and promoting your book. I found several ideas I'd never heard of before. There are several appendices with worksheets towards everything from your overall writing dreams to checklists for marketing plans. These are available to download from a supporting website also.

On the downside, my copy being an ebook, the kindle app I was reading this from provided a lot of formatting quirks to my reading - a lot of the text ran in together, yet there were pages with huge gaps in them, and some of the appendices were virtually unreadable.

There is a stack of information in this book, and I would hasten to guess that it will become a go-to for me in the coming few months as I move into publication myself. I recommend it for any soon-to-be authors or already published authors looking for some new ideas to throw in their own toolbox.

I bought this for my kindle and I'm really impressed with the down-to-earth approach to book promotion/marketing. I think it's got great points that can help a writer whether they are just starting out to already established. Plus, you can't beat the $4.99 price.

I encourage anyone interested in a writing career to pick this one up. In this POS economy, authors are being asked to do more and more promotion regardless of which type of publishing you do (i.e. traditional, e-book, self-pub). It's important to be prepared and plan ahead.

As a publicist, I would highly recommend this book.

After listening to Ms. Ramirez speak at a writer's workshop, I picked up this book. It's an easy to read informative book on promotion and marketing for a writer. After devouring the information and helpful instructions, I feel much better armed and informed. It's full of places where I've highlighted information.

The Tricked-Out Toolbox is a keeper!

Some parts I could skim because I already had a handle on them, but other parts I slowed right down and took notes. Lots of great, effective, and inexpensive tips on how to market your books and writing. From the aspiring author to the published author. Includes worksheets.

This is really good, esp for a new author or one who is trying to make an impact out there, like me. I really like the appendices at the back, which you can print off from their website. It made me work out what my brand for non-fiction is.
