I normally love Kim's books but man this one was rough. Violence happens. Violence against women happens. But I absolutely don't want to read about it. I'm sorry Kim, your intentions are good. Put some light on it, I get that.
What I did like about it was the psychic aspect of the story. Crazy how I'm reading two at the same time with that same theme from her. This one was on audio via Voice Dream. That really messes with your head to "read" two stories simultaneously from the same author with similar themes.
Tips my hat to Remmy and Julie. Keep your heads down kids, it's only gonna get better from here.
This is a disturbing read, but I could not put it down. These characters stay with you and you do not stop rooting for them throughout. Highly recommend.
This book is a fantastic read, but I will warn you, you do have to endure some pretty graphic rape and torture scenes in the first half of the story. The book is about a loner/drifter named Remmy and a school teacher, Julie. Remmy has psychic abilities and they are strongly tied to emotions, especially when concerned with Julie.
Julie is abducted by a a sicko, named Sergio. This is where things get dark and twisted. The author tells the story fantastically, and you really can feel the fear and pain Julie endures. I have to say it was hard to read at some points, and I really did not want to eat eggs for quite some time.
After Julie's abduction is where Remmy really comes into play. She feels Julie's presence and can sometimes even see what see Julie is seeing. Remmy then begins helping the police search for the missing schoolteacher.
The second half of the book, fleshes out the feelings that Remmy and Julie develop for each other, and how they deal with the emotional and physical scars the past has created. This is good book, with strong characters, you won't be disappointed.
