Auckland Museum's collection of tapa cloth from around the Pacific is one of the most extensive in the world and it forms the basis of this comprehensive survey.
In seeking unifying characteristics of the peoples of the Pacific Ocean, I came across this book. It covers places as distant as Hawai'i, New Zealand, Papua New Guinea and Tahiti. Lavishly illustrated, and informationally rich, it describes not only the designs but often the manufacturing process. Even as a light guide to the Pacific and its cultures, this book is well worth investigating.
