The Osteology of the Reptiles

Rate this book
Putting a new preface on a classic reference, reprints Romer's (zoology, Harvard U.) 1956 combination of two distinct books in a single volume. The Skeleton of Reptiles remains the only comprehensive review of variation in the skeletal anatomy of all reptiles groups, and so is still an indispensable resource for all systematists and anatomists of all sorts. His Classification and Range of Reptiles, the standard for decades, is now primarily of historical interest, but remains a good key to the correct interpretation of the descriptive section. Romer chose well-established genera and species as representatives, so most of his nomenclature remains recognizable to modern scientists; the new preface summarizes the changes. Illustrated with shaded line drawings. The bibliography has not been updated. Annotation c. by Book News, Inc., Portland, Or.
