"In Search of Fatherhood: A Mother Lode of Wisdom from the World of Daughterhood" is a book that is just like this. Author Kevin Renner woke up one day with one glaring realization: he didn¹t know his daughters very well. When he asked himself 'What does a good father look like?' and no answer came to mind, he decided to find out. He interviewed 50 women from around the world for In Search of Fatherhood. The book is the first step toward his goal of having a lasting influence around the world on fathers, daughters, and their relationships. The process taught him the importance of tough love, and how everything that he does as a father, and that every father does, communicates in subtle yet lasting ways. He learned the many ways in which their fathers—good, bad, and in-between—had affected their lives. Young and old, rich and poor, well known and anonymous, these women became guides on the author’s journey into fatherhood.

This was kind of disappointing. I read an article about the book where the author stated that if a woman told him about her relationship with her father, he could predict the state of her romantic relationships, and I was hoping for more insight into those specific correlations.
The book contains many interviews, and the stories are okay, but the format suffers from repetition. This is how we met. This is what she said. This is what I learned from it. With that, there are no strong themes or groundbreaking insights. Some women with good fathers have trouble with relationships, just like some women with bad fathers.
I believe doing the interviews was good for Renner, and I believe it was good for the interviewees to have a chance to talk about their experiences and think about them, but it didn't give me the kind of information I was hoping for.

I really enjoyed this book. Whether you are a parent or not, a father or a mother, this book offers some good insight into just how much a parent can affect their children. I feel that this book is one that any man or woman who plans on becoming a parent should read. It will help the fathers to see how to properly treat and attend to their daughters as well as help women/mothers guide the fathers into having a healthy relationship with their daughters. I feel that this book could also give women insight into how men may be as fathers and will help guide them in their choice of choosing who they feel will be a good parent for their children.
