When Duff discovers an intruder hiding inside his barn, he’s stunned by the reappearance of Lily Dumont, the woman who ran out on him years earlier. Bo, his lover, doesn’t seem to mind having Lily around the house, even after she admits she’s returned to rekindle her relationship with Duff. Still, complications arise when a night of unexpected shared pleasure means something different to each of three of them.
Lily ran away from Duff and a love that would linger for years, no matter how much she tried to forget it. Now, with two hot men in the mix, Lily is reluctant to pull up stakes for the first time in her life. And the men keep coming up with reasons to get her to stay.
Publisher's Note: This book contains explicit sexual content, graphic language, and situations that some readers may find objectionable: Anal play/intercourse, male/male sexual practices, menage (m/m/f), voyeurism.
Kinda short, so not a whole lot of depth to the characters. Imagine Duff's surprise to find his long-lost love, Lily, hiding in his barn. Too bad Lily just took off on Duff, and Duff has some deep hurt from that. Imagine Lily's surprise to find that after she'd left him, he ended up with another man. Imagine both of their surprise when Bo is totally on board with sharing Lily. It's probably a good thing Bo was there because he served as an effective intermediary between Duff and Lily. I have to say that Lily's excuse for leaving Duff was dumb, lol. How 'bout letting Duff decide who he should be with and why? Still... it all made for a short, hot read.
I did not connect with these characters and thought Lily was a bitch. This story only takes place over about three days and has so many old hurts that need to be addressed that the timeframe really didn't work. I also thought that they jumped into bed way to quickly and without too much fuss.
That said, the plot had excellent promise, but it just needed more time. A prologue of the night Lily left would have helped a lot as I still don't fully understand her leaving in the first place and staying gone so long.
What happens when a wayward woman commands the heart of two men sworn to each other? They ride raw. Stephanie Ganon has created a story with real to life characters who love hard, live by their own code, and find the love behind the heartache.
When Lily Dumont stumbled into his barn, bleeding and homeless, Duff didn't have the heart to throw out the one woman who'd nearly broken him years before. But his new partner Bo may not understand his need to protect the woman sleeping in the guest room. Duff, a retired cop turned rancher, fell for his new lover in a hard way and overcame his identity crisis to make a good life with him. But Lily was his first love--the woman who left him. Now, the men will have to teach her to rise above her self-loathing and fight the delicate balance of their own lust and love.
I enjoyed the characters in this story, even though Lily was hard to love. But I liked her because she wasn't your typical heroine. Mature and a little rough around the edges, she kept the plot moving and the relationships on the edge. Duff and Bo were hot and beautiful. They have a love that shouldn't be tested, but any time jealousy and self doubt get thrown in the mix, sparks will fly and passions will soar. Ms Ganon was a master with the emotions in this capacity.
I'll try not to give anything away, but at one point in the story, I wanted to strangle Lily, and just when I wanted to hate her...seriously, hate her...Ms Ganon threw in one line that brought tears to my eyes. I instantly realized that this was the moment I had been waiting for. She redeemed Lily for me in that one line. I'm not usually an emotional reader, but I'll admit a tear or two slipped free.
Well done, and a fast read, I'd recommend this story to anyone looking for a real moment.
Riding Raw by Stephanie Ganon Contemporary Western- May 10th, 2011 3 1/2 stars
Riding Raw is a quick read filled with drama and hot explicit sex in just the right places.
Kevin "Duff" McHale is the tough but reserved main character, his partner/lover Bo is way adorable and just too darn understanding. Rounding out our main characters, we have Lily, Duff’s old girlfriend, a self deprecating yet beautiful woman. She has just decided to show up after disappearing on Duff a few years ago. She wants Duff back for some hot lovin’ and she doesn’t mind sharing!
The story line was easy to get into and the characters were given enough depth so there was a connection. I could understand Duff being torn between his love for Bo and struggling with his feelings for his old flame Lily. I wanted to not like Lily for her carelessness, accepting being a victim, and giving up an amazing man like Duff. In the end, Lily showed a bit more backbone and ‘Woman Up’ by accepting responsibility. And finally started to believe that she was worthy of being loved (and not just on her back). This book was made a bit better with Duff’s other lover Bo. Bo helped tie this story together and made me appreciate this complex threesome. The only drawback were a few situations that I had to ask "Really?!?" wondering if it was realistic or possible but not enough to take away from this enjoyable down and dirty read.

This is a short story about a woman who runs back to her ex-lover after leaving him for another man. Meanwhile he's found a new love with a man. They turn it into a threesome.
This was a really short story and I had a hard time connecting with the characters. Bo and Duff were loveable enough but I couldn't get a read on Lily. She wasn't all the likeable and I'm not sure why Bo and Duff liked her so much.
This is a complex short story that should have been told in a much longer format instead of over a 3 or 4 day time period. The characters are well-developed and complex but are not able to "shine" because the story is too short. I did enjoy it but could not rate it any more than a 3.
