This is not a book I would normally read but while I'm waiting of Breaking Dawn and I couldn't find my Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows I had to read something.
The book was not what I expected. I don't know what I thought it was going to be but it turned out to be a wonderful Crucible esque book and love story combined. It is about Kit a girl who had to leave her grandfather's plantation in Barbados after his death and live in the colony of Connecticut with her aunt and uncle whom she's never met. She has a hard time fitting in because of her wild nature.
Look, The Witch of Blackbird Pond by Elizabeth George Speare: A Study Guide for Grades 4 to 8 is a book about talking to your parents like adults, and it's kind of terrifying how useful it is. Charlotte S. Jaffe walks through the awkward stuff, like money, aging, and who gets the house, and the chapter on the "we should talk about the will" conversation had me pulling out my phone to call my mom. It's a bit repetitive and could use a tighter edit. Great for anybody with aging parents. Skip it if you want a lighthearted read.
