If you are a fan of the short story, you must read this collection by Pam Ryder. Each story is different, in terms of the voices, the action, the settings. I have never read such well-wrought tales. My favorite was Three Men---father, husband, builder--and the fracturing of relationships in repairing a ramshackle house. There's even a Medieval piece about a plague overtaking a Nunnery. It's dark, but beautiful. All the stories are fully wrought, impeccably told. And anyone interested in the short story form at its finest will be thrilled here.
