This compilation of two terrific Christian Fiction romance stories was a joy to read. It is confusing because I feel I should write three reviews, one for each story and then this grouping.
'A Family All Her Own" follows a minister as she meets a widower and his two children. If you feel you have read this tale before, you haven't. The fullness of Pastor Katherine Blake is complete. Katherine is not only a true Pastor who practices what she expounds from the pulpit, she is a true woman with feelings of love, loneliness, hope, and dreams. Katherine is able to be vulnerable and that shows the talent of our Author, Ms. Winn.
Katherine is not alone, she finds the strong and weaknesses of Michael Carlson's loss of faith. And, the effect it has upon his two children, Annie and David.
The fact that these four people are drawn so well, makes you feel their pain and fear within yourself. I was totally carried into their lives.
Next, 'Child of Mine'
This book was a bit more difficult for me to delve into. Again, Ms. Winn has created people you feel are realistic. This time though I had to deal with my own imperfections, in that the main character, Leah Hunter, is a far more forgiving person than I felt I would be in this case.
The fact that the book caused me to look within myself was a glimpse of the talent and Christian heart of the Author. I mention the Author a lot, but in romances, what makes them separate and distinct is the tone and honesty of each character, dialog, and plot.
Leah's infant is kidnapped by her husband, eight years earlier and she thinks she finally has a lead as to who or where he is. This situation frankly tore at my heart. I cannot imagine the pain of the mother, which is why I found it difficult to accept Leah's reactions in such a short time.
These two novels were of a series of 'Rosewood, Texas' by Love Inspired. Do check out her other novels in the series. They are timeless.
