Mostly letters to his wife. They cover a lot of personal issues and some church issues, but not the kind of heavy theological content that Bonhoeffer's letters from prison have.

Could have benefited from a bit more context around the letters - who the people were and why they are significant - some of the backstory would have made the letters more interesting. There are some footnotes, but the information provided is very minimal.

A few of the letters really capture the mood of Herr Niemöller. When things look really dark, you can sense a bit of despair, but he always returns to hope. Echos of the Psalms in this way.

Generally don't recommend as it is mostly inside baseball - really inside baseball.
