Need safety info first. Does the H cheat? Does he sleep with other women?
This book was written for masochists, the h is tortured emotionally and physically by the H. One of the angstest Ancient Chinese romance.

- H is an emperor with a harem, he is not faithful to the h until he falls in love with her. He gets the Queen pregnant but she loses the baby before it was born. However he is totally loyal after he realises he loves the h, but of course the MC doesn't know and he doesn't actively tell her either

H has her tortured by guards because he thinks she cheated on him, but she was raped. H imprisons her, dislocates her jaw, raped her, while she's heavily pregnant, and shackled her legs encased in spikes. She loses the baby and also dies AGAIN in their 2nd life.

So I'm giving this 5 stars because not only are the translations excellent, the romance and ANGST are out of this world addictive. Like crack. I binged this in 3 days.

Anyways...I will say, the modern and fantasy elements seemed a bit unnecessary and convoluted. I could've done with all the extra stuff and each main character having three counterparts plus with the MTL the body-swapping and reincarnation stuff got super confusing.

Also, the ML might make you want to rage quit but if you love angst and whump this is totally worth it. BRB while I go read everything else this author has ever written.
