Pseudo-Static and Pseudo-Dynamic Response of Retaining Wall: Seismic Analysis of Retaining Wall

Rate this book
In the present analysis, an effort has been made to determine the seismic earth pressure on rigid retaining wall considering non-linear failure surface criterion. Pseudo-static and Pseudo-dynamic methods are used in this analysis. Analytical solutions have been obtained using Horizontal Slicing Method to obtain non-linear rupture surface. The non-linear model is supposed to provide more general solution compared to linear kind of failure surface and it is seen that the shape of the rupture surface may be hogging or sagging in nature. Here an attempt is also made to solve the Pseudo-dynamic earth pressure problem by considering the total seismic energy which has been majorly contributed by Rayleigh waves along with primary wave and shear wave. The back-fill of c-F nature and batter-faced retaining wall has been considered for this purpose.
