When I was hired as a technology coordinator, I quickly saw that databases were going to be something I needed to learn. I was hired because of my instructional technology skills, but the job was actually different than that. I self-taught myself databases. This was the foundation of my learning.

By no means did I ever become an expert, but I learned what I needed to complete my job well. Sure, when I learned some skills, I had needs that extended beyond this book, but there was plenty here to keep me going. I had to learn to convert from business examples to educational examples (there is not always a clear relationship).
