This was a moving account of an actual as well as a personal journey. It made me think and it filled me with admiration for the author's courage. Angela Locke's journey to the Himalaya to research her novel Dreams of the Blue Poppy led to the formation of a charity - the Juniper Trust founded to help educate children in poor communities in Nepal. It's told with complete honesty - Angela goes with very western, middle class expectations and finds her whole value system shaken. What a journey!
