Boys dream, and mostly of adventure. Boys dream of saving the world, stopping the tyrants, and moving the mountains. Some boys let their dreams spill out into the real world. Or perhaps they simply step from the real world into their dreams. The Amazing Adventures of Hobb 'n Dobbs tell selected tales from the lives of Jason Hobb and Justin Dobbs, best friends growing up along the coast of the Pacific Northwest's famed Puget Sound. Hobb 'n Dobbs, as they are called by friends, are just such boys, often letting the real world mix with their dreams of adventure, bringing their dreams of adventure to life.
In Book 1: The Mysterious Submariners, the boys are two weeks away from their first day of high school when they stumble on a mysterious homemade submarine carrying dangerous cargo and nefarious men. Written off by local police as nothing more than two mischievous boys telling tall tales, the two young heroes find themselves on a secret quest to uncover a frightening terrorist plot that threatens an entire city. When the terrorists find they're being followed, the boys face danger as never before, and must draw on all their courage, creativity, and resoursefulness to escape with their lives. But can they also save the city?
My 11 year old son and I both just finished reading this book. It was a great adventure story! My son loved it and is anxious for the next one in the series to come out...hopefully soon. But as a mom who likes to preview the books I pass on to my kids, I found that I really enjoyed the fast paced story and imagery of what it must be like to be an adventurous boy! I found that reading this book with my son opened up a lot of fun conversation between the two of us as we shared our favorite parts of the story. It was wonderful seeing his imagination sparked by the adventures of Hobb and Dobbs. Plus, I love that it is available online on amazon for only $2.99. I just downloaded the free kindle reader app for my laptop. I absolutely love that you can download great books for such a great price. Anyway...check this book out! Looking forward to reading more from this author!
